Volunteering

Volunteering is an essential part of Open Secret. Most of our direct service provision is carried out by volunteers and the overall management of the organisation is by a volunteer management committee.

Open Secret works with volunteers to:

  • promote our service within the communities we operate in
  • provide training and awareness raising of childhood sexual abuse
  • create communities where childhood sexual abuse can be talked about.

We want volunteers to work with us in the following roles:

  • Receptionists
  • Counselling and Support work
  • Group Workers
  • Befrienders
  • Management Committee.

What does Open Secret want from a volunteer?

We are looking for people who are interested in working with Open Secret. Who are willing to learn and enter into training appropriate to their role. We want enthusiastic, willing individuals who will bring their life experience with them. We also want people who can work within a framework of child protection and confidentiality.

How do you become a volunteer?

Easy!
Just call our volunteer coordinator based in our Falkirk office on 01324 630100.

We have a recruitment process and after an initial chat you will be asked to fill in an application form and a self disclosure form. Then our volunteer coordinator will get back to you to talk about opportunities in Open Secret.
